Refractions, 2024
A series of 19 drawings created from representations of trees found in maps and plans, transferred onto the space of paper in a game between the objective and the subjective, the near and the far, the controlled and the randomly released, in which symbols, numbers and diverse forms are mixed to compose and liberate their visual or musical interpretation. Through the series, the aim is to enable more subjective and intuitive ways of relating to natural spaces located at a distance; to question objective representation and the enunciative nature of language; and to expand the boundaries between artistic disciplines and those of human experience itself. They are the result of the first phase of the SoUNd project, which explores the nature of human perception and sound, and their logics of representation; chosen for residency at the Girona Contemporary Art Centre El Bòlit, in exchange with Lo Pati, The Art Centre of Terres de l’Ebre.
