The exhibition
«Wanderlust» is a constellation of something that goes beyond. The project is born from the exploration based on the poetics of observation and experience and, in itself, becomes a proposal that addresses issues such as the creative gesture, the dimension of fiction and the trace as a catalyst for the relationship with the images and the environment. A display of creations through which the artist works with light and his gesture to demonstrate the creative experience. As its title indicates, it invites to explore and wander with an eye on the conditions of possibility, the questions posed and the means with which images are created.
All new works make «Wanderlust», Juliana Hoyos' first solo exhibition at Casa Elizalde, which includes «Dancing light #1», a set of 37 images that the artist creates from an experimental perspective of photography, in which the abstract act of drawing with light provokes an understanding of the creation of images and their nature, evokes a visual grammar at the service of chance and movement, and blurs the boundaries between artistic disciplines.
On the other hand, in «Dancing Hand», a set of 3 drawings, the artist's stroke resembles the stroke of light in an attempt to challenge the gaze and the creative medium itself in a free and at the same time precise process. In dialogue with the series «Dancing light #1», it explores the notions of reality and fiction, as well as the limits of visual perception.
The sculptural work «The House of Gaze» is a simile of a camera obscura, with reflective walls and a hole that aims to frame the viewer from an angle that reveals not only a text but the very act of looking, giving them the opportunity to see themselves, exploring the poetics of observation, the character of the non-representable and the logics of creating the whole through the gaze and the awareness of it.
Next to it is «41.3945, 2.16592», an installation in front of one of the room's windows, in which the light from outside, as well as the view beyond, is now visible on the paper only through the magnifying glass that acts as a lens. Through the process of optical refraction, the scene depicted appears inverted, creating a composite image of the environment beyond the exterior of the house. Light manifests itself as the element that activates the poetics in question, in which the changing image is revealed to the rhythm of its movement, of a suspended time and of the dynamics of optics.
The sound is the protagonist in the side room. «Drawing attention», is a sound composition full of possibilities and different rhythms, in which we perceive the sound of a hand drawing on the paper that at the same time blurs and overlaps with other sound sequences of open character. A fragment with a beginning and an end rich in details that unfolds a temporal universe that calls for attention and the creation of mental images.  The piece is combined with an installation titled in the same way, in which the artist invites the public to intervene a piece of paper and draw freely on it, letting themselves be carried away by the sounds perceived.
Finally, «Time to look», drawings created in a playful sequence in which strokes and words are superimposed on the paper. The different meanings and the few insinuations of the stroke and the language in the space awaken the imagination and bring into view the dimension of fiction and the creation of the gaze.
